  • Power Drill.
  • Combination Square.
  • Measuring Tape.
  • Pencil.
  • Sandpaper.

How to Install

Here I’ve shared the easiest mechanism so that everyone can try and set the lock on the door. Just follow the few points that are described below. So, let’s start.

Mark the Centers for Making Holes According To the Door Lock Template

First of all, you have to locate the points where you will make holes to set the lock. To do that take the cardboard template and mark the center where you will make holes. You can also use a measuring tape to secure the template. Mark the holing center with a pencil. Do not forget to read the manufacturer’s manual before going to set the lock.

Drill Perfect Size Holes

Now you have to make holes through the points. In this step, you need a power drill and a perfect size drill bit so that the appropriately sized holes are made. Here you can use the combination square to keep the drill bit at the right angle. After making the holes rub the edges of the holes with sandpaper to make it smooth.

Insert the Bolt and Plate

Insert the bolt into the hole and then place the bolt plate in the right position. Now trace the outline of the bolt plate on the edge of the door.

Cut the Mortise

Using the chisel cut the mortise for the bolt and plate. Then insert the bolt and plate on the mortise and make the pilot holes to install the screws. Now secure the plate with the screws on the edge of the door.

Insert the Lock Cylinder

Now insert the outside lock cylinder as the way so that the bolt assembly fits the connecting bar appropriately. Then secure the interior lock cylinder with the screws.

Install the Strike Plate

Now locate the right spot for the strike plate. Cut the mortise for the strike plate and drill the holes on the jamb to secure the strike plate. Now install the strike plate perfectly with the screws.

Congratulations! You’ve completely done the job.
